Barça make new lower offer

Very hot days are coming up again in Barcelona – because Ousmane Dembélé’s contract expires on June 30th and Barça wants to have clarity by then. The Catalans allegedly do not want to improve their offer financially. And yet the negotiating situation does not seem to be bad from the Blaugrana’s point of view.

FC Barcelona demands Dembélé decision in the next few days

For months, one of the biggest question marks over Dembélé’s future has been at FC Barcelona. In winter, Barça demanded the attacker’s departure because they could not agree on an extension and they had the last chance to cash in on the 24-year-old.

But because this plan didn’t work out and Dembélé was among Barcelona’s best under coach Xavi Hernández, the club has started trying again to extend the expiring contract.

Clear stance on Dembélé: FC Barcelona resumes negotiations

Offer for Dembélé should be lower than in December 2021

To date, however, Barça’s wish has not come true. But now are the days of decision. According to the Catalan sports newspaper Sport Blaugrana would like to have final certainty by June 30 as to whether Dembélé will accept the offer that is ready to be signed or not.

According to the usually well-informed Barça reporter Gerard Romero, the offer is with lower financial implications than last December – and this time without commission for advisor Moussa Sissoko. The current offer from FC Barcelona for Dembélé would therefore include an annual salary of 6 million euros net plus 1.5 million euros in bonuses. For comparison: In December 2021, the Catalans are said to have offered the 2018 world champion 7.5 million euros plus a possible 3.5 million euros in additional payments.

Also the Catalan radio station RAC1 reports on a new but lower offer from FC Barcelona to join Dembélé.

Dembélé seems to be short of options outside of Barça

Dembélé did not want to extend in winter. Will he do it this time? It is said again and again that he would prefer to stay at Barça, while Agent Sissoko is demanding more money and playing extremely high poker. Besides that, his alternatives seem extremely limited at the moment. According to Sport the winger has no offer from another club ready to be signed.

In the recent past, Chelsea FC and Paris Saint-Germain in particular have repeatedly been listed as interested parties. But neither of the two clubs is said to have made a concrete offer to Dembélé so far. The pressure on the player side would thus increase – on the other hand, the optimism at Barça would increase. Does Sissoko gamble or does FC Barcelona? The eternal Dembélé saga enters its final round.
