Barca give Frenkie de Jong an ultimatum

FC Barcelona wants a confession from its midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The 27-year-old Dutchman returned this week after a long injury layoff. His current contract runs until 2026. According to “Sport”, the Catalans now want to tie up de Jong for a longer period or put him on the transfer market. Accordingly, they are giving the national player an ultimatum until the beginning of next year.

Manchester United have been repeatedly linked as a suitor for de Jong for a long time. Whether a corresponding change could materialize remains to be seen. De Jong has emphasized several times that he feels comfortable with his family in Barcelona. It is not yet clear whether he will consider extending his contract.
