Barça gets a pensioner!

Wojciech Szczesny is expected to come out of retirement and sign for Barca to replace ter Stegen.

FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick explained on Wednesday night that with only Ander Astralaga (20) and Diego Kochen (18) behind Inaki Pena, it would be necessary for the club to recruit a more experienced goalkeeper to at least compete with the latter. It seems that Wojciech Szczesny is the one in the running.

According to MD, Szczesny will undergo his medical with FC Barcelona this Thursday, having agreed to return to action one month after his retirement. Talks are currently underway between Juventus and FC Barcelona to reach an agreement on his salary. Szczesny, who is no longer part of Juventus’ plans, terminated his contract with La Vecchia Signora in August, accepting a €2.5 million severance payment, and an additional €2 million payment if he did not find a team this season. He was earning €6.5 million per season in Turin.

Szczesny, early-retirement goalkeeper

The Blaugrana are in talks to negotiate this reduction and bring it down to €2 million, but even if they manage to cover the entire amount, Szczesny seems willing to accept a salary cut compared to last season. If Sport’s information is correct, according to which the Polish goalkeeper will earn around €3 million per season plus bonuses, this would bring his salary to around €5 million, if we include the payment of €2 million for this season.
