In the “Kölner Treff” Barbara Schöneberger reported on a strange bungling in the supermarket: At the checkout, a man mistook her for a perfectly normal customer with a striking resemblance to the presenter. The misunderstanding was followed by a questionable compliment.

Cologne – On Friday evening (November 25), WDR broadcast a best-of of the cult talk show “Kölner Treff” under the motto “Class Women”. In addition to compilations with celebrities such as Anke Engelke (56) or Senta Berger (81), a section with moderator Barbara Schöneberger (48) has also made its way into the show. In this, the Munich native related a curious incident she had experienced a few days earlier in a supermarket.

Barbara Schöneberger has become an integral part of the German TV landscape: In “Because you don’t know what’s going on”, the moderator recently had to do without Günther Jauch (66) and Thomas Gottschalk (72) – and mastered this task with the flight colors. Far from glitz and glamour, however, the 48-year-old is much more relaxed: “I organize [im Privaten] all of intimacy and comfort between (…). And at work I’m the exact opposite,” said the entertainer during her visit to the “Kölner Treff”.

In the WDR talk, the Munich-born TV star also talked about moments in everyday life when people don’t see her as Barbara Schöneberger, even if they notice the resemblance: “People often don’t really think they’ll meet you at the checkout. It happened to me again three days ago. I’m standing (…) at the checkout when a man walks up to me: ‘You know what? You know!’” He recounted an experience at the supermarket where a client was apparently unaware that the 48-year-old was actually in front of him.

Already known? Barbara Schöneberger is no longer called Schöneberger:

Barbara Schöneberger was born on March 5, 1974 in Munich and grew up in Gröbenzell, a neighboring community 16 kilometers northwest of the center of the state capital. In 2009, the presenter, who also works as an actress and singer, married the IT entrepreneur Maximilian von Schierstädt, with whom she has a son (* 2010) and a daughter (* 2013). In 2018, she confirmed on her NDR that she would use her husband’s surname as a civil servant, but she would continue to appear as Barbara Schöneberger for professional reasons.

At first Barbara Schöneberger pretended not to know what the supermarket customer meant, but remained stubborn and commented on the similarity: “You probably feel it more often,” said the man, who then paid the TV celebrity a dubious compliment: “But you have much better proportions,” he let her know, said the 48-year-old, who he later explained, often be perceived as “fat”.

But despite various questionable remarks, the TV presenter has remained self-confident for years. This is fine with many fans. Several Instagram users recently celebrated Barbara Schöneberger’s comment under a bikini photo of Annemarie Carpendale (45). Sources used: “Kölner Treff” (WDR; Best of: “Great Women”)
