“Cindy is actually the girl I wanted to be,” Barbara said. “The ultimate girl next door. Life seemed a lot simpler to her. She knew what she would do later. But at one point she ran off with the first boy I had a crush on, his name was Danny. We both approached him and he chose her. That was the first time I felt rejection. Since then we have had no contact for a long time.”

Cindy was then allowed to come into the studio to tell her what she thought of her childhood friend’s book. And that moment moved Barbara very much. “I don’t really remember that Danny chose me”, Cindy laughed. “But I learned that in the book.”

Barbara also said that she made her mother’s coffin: “That was an intense process. Besides, my mom wanted to be buried on her stomach, because then she could fall into my dad’s arms if the bottom shelf rotted.”
