“In recent years we have received much more negative reactions about that prize. That is why we are convinced that it is better to stop with the Barbara Dex Award in its current form. Because that prize is always associated with the judgment “ugly”. After 25 years, it’s time to take a step forward.”
There will be a brand new award, which will honor the most striking outfit on the largest stage in Europe. Eurovision fans from all over the world can help determine what the new award will be called online. Proposals are welcome at Songfestival.be.
All ideas are welcome, “only proposals containing the name “Barbara Dex” will be rejected,” according to the organization. The new name and awards will be presented on April 29.
