Peach officially returned the trophy Ronaldinho Trophy obtained last weekend related to throwing ‘kung fu fighting’.
The White Tiger squad directed by Javier Roca emerged as the winner of the Nusantara Trofeo which was also called the Ronaldinho Trofeo because it involved the Brazilian legend in the Rans Nusantara FC camp as one of the participants.
Three days after winning the trophy, Persik stated that they had returned the victory sign.
In an official statement uploaded via social media accounts, Persik voiced the words ‘kung fu fighting’ as the background for returning the trophy.
“The statement that the Persik Kediri team played hard and was rude which is analogous to ‘Kungfu Fight’ is a one-sided opinion without looking at the statistics and actual events seen on the gridiron,” Persik said in a post on social media.
Persik also included match statistics as a rejection of the term kung fu fighting in the statement, both regarding yellow cards and red cards, as well as the number of violations in the Rans Nusantara FC vs Persik match.
The team, which was once the champion of the Indonesian League, also expressed respect for Ronaldinho’s presence during the 30-minute match.
“For this reason, we firmly and consciously return the Trofeo Nusantara with Ronaldinho Cup to the organizers to use it as well as possible,” the statement said.
Comments about ‘kung fu fighting’ were made by Rudy Salim as one of the top brass of Rans Nusantara FC. Rudy had stated that there was a misunderstanding that made the tournament take place seriously instead of being cheerful and fun because of Ronaldinho’s presence.
“That’s why, yesterday I had the wrong briefing. I said this is a fun game, it turns out that ‘next door’ might be considered a kung fu fight. So I misunderstood, it seems that yesterday was really serious, it was like the Champions League,” said Rudy.
