Banyuwangi Regency Launches Sanitary Household and Mosquito Village Free Movement Program to Prevent Dengue Fever Outbreak

Banyuwangi – The Banyuwangi Regency Government launched the Sanitary Household and Mosquito Village Free Movement Program at the Srono District office. This program was immediately launched in 15 towns, 2 sub-districts.

All parties are urged to participate in efforts to prevent dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). With the support of the Ministry of Health, the program includes 150 cadres of Mosquito Larval Inspection Officers (Jumantik) who will receive educational materials about the dangers of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and how to prevent it.

“DHF can be prevented by keeping the environment clean. Starting from eliminating stagnant water that can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes, to using medication -anti-mosquito medicine. This must be our practice,” said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, Wednesday (8/8/). 5/2024).

This program is optimized with the collaboration of various supports from the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Enesis which collaborates by raising awareness of dengue prevention by providing workers with anti-mosquito lotion free of charge to target village communities.

In addition, the company that makes the Soffel brand anti-mosquito lotion also mobilizes workers to find and treat areas that are at risk of becoming breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito. .

Ipuk thanked the Enesis Group for its involvement in dealing with mosquito-borne diseases in Banyuwangi. Especially dengue fever which attacks many people.

“Banyuwangi is currently in a situation that requires the cooperation of various parties to solve dengue fever cases,” said Ipuk.

According to Ipuk, the movement for mosquito-free villages and healthy families without displacement will be sustained by government programs. If the Ministry of Health has the 3M plus move, the Banyuwangi Regency Government has the move at the same time to eliminate mosquito nests (Gertak PSN).

“Let us make these moves together to reduce the risk of spreading dengue fever cases,” he said.

There are 2 sub-areas that this program focuses on. These are the districts of Srono and Muncar. Both are sub-regions with the highest rates of dengue fever cases in 2024.

Data from the Health Service says that dengue fever cases in Banyuwangi will reach 234 cases through 2024. 6 of them died in total.
