Liputan6.com, Banyuwang – The Banyuwangi Regency Government, East Java, is targeting 180,641 children aged 0 to 8 years less than one day to receive the polio vaccine in the second round of the National Immunization Sub Week (PIN) Polio and is targeting completion in the next week.
Banyuwangi Regency Government and Social Welfare Assistant, Arief Setiawan, stated that the second round of polio vaccination was carried out simultaneously in 25 sub-districts for one week, from Monday (19/2) to Sunday (25/2).
“We are starting today, and the target number is at least the same as the achievement as in the first round, namely 180,641 children aged 0 to 8 years less a day,” he said in Banyuwangi, Monday (19/2/2024), as reported by Antara.
Arief said that the first stage of Sub PIN Polio in Banyuwangi Regency which was held on 15-21 January 2024 reached 180,641 children or 103 percent.
“This achievement exceeds the stated target, namely 174,237 targets,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Banyuwangi District Health Service, Amir Hidayat, appealed to the entire local community, especially parents who have children who have received the vaccine in the first round, not to miss the opportunity for the second round of Sub PIN Polio.
“We hope that all children who have been vaccinated in the first round will all receive the second polio vaccine. For those who have not received the polio vaccine in the first round, they can be accommodated in this second round. Then they can take the polio vaccine again one month after giving the initial dose,” ” he said.
