Banyuwangi – Polio vaccination achievement in Banyuwangi reached 92 percent. To support the acceleration of vaccination achievements to 100 percent, Banyuwangi Police held simultaneous immunization at 24 points. The target is 1,806 children aged 0 – 7 years.
The first round of Sub PIN Polio activities was held in the Hoo Tong Bio Temple Hall, Karangrejo Village, Banyuwangi involving Bhayangkari Banyuwangi Police, attended by Assistant for Government and Welfare Arief Setiawan and Acting Head of Health Office Amir Hidayat.
Banyuwangi Police Chief Commissioner Nanang Haryono said that polio immunization was carried out simultaneously at 24 points involving 186 health workers from the Police Health Department and the Health Service.
“Today’s Polio immunization targets children aged 0-7 years, a total of 1,806 children. The achievements that have been obtained by the regional government and related stakeholders from the target of 170 thousand have reached 160 thousand, so the achievement has reached 92%,” explained Nanang to journalists on Saturday. With the involvement of the Banyuwangi Police, Nanang hopes that the polio immunization achievement on the appointed day will be 100% complete.

“The hope is that with this activity, these achievements can continue to be improved and other things will continue to be implemented, whether individually coming to the health center and so on,” added Nanang.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Banyuwangi Health Service (Dinkes) Amir Hidayat admitted that no cases of Polio had been detected in Bumi Blambangan.
“Banyuwangi has not had any polio cases, but in 2014 Indonesia received a polio-free certificate from WHO, so when there was just one case, it was declared an outbreak,” explained Amir.
This is the basis for the East Java Provincial Government to declare that the Polio outbreak and simultaneous immunization must be carried out with a target of 100% achievement in one week.
