Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
The police did not find a criminal element in the case of cutting social assistance funds (social assistance) to residents in Beji Village, Beji District, Kota Depok. The Rp 50,000 cut in social assistance was claimed for ambulance repairs.
“The results of the provisional (case) title do not include (criminal) elements, both corruption (corruption) or other crimes,” said Head of the Depok Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKBP Yogen Heroes Baruno when confirmed, Friday (6/8).
Yogen said that in this case his party could not apply articles related to corruption. Because the head of the RW is neither a civil servant nor a state official.
Then, the application of Article 372 of the Criminal Code regarding embezzlement, said Yogen, also cannot be done in this case.
“It didn’t go in because the money from the Post Office was directly handed over to the residents. The residents themselves put it in the donation box,” said Yogen.
Yogen also said that Article 368 of the Criminal Code regarding extortion also cannot be applied in the case of cutting social assistance.
“There is no element of coercion or violence in giving donations,” he said.
Furthermore, Yogen said that the social assistance money previously collected from residents had now been returned. “Now all the money is returned,” said Yogen.
Previously, a resident admitted that his social assistance allowance was cut by the RT and RW management by Rp. 50 thousand from the Rp. 600 thousand that he should have received. This incident occurred in RT 06 RW 05 Beji Village, Beji District, Depok City.
According to him, the levy is an agreement between the heads of RT, RW, and the management of the Covid-19 alert post in the area. The levy is used to repair the ambulance along with the engine.
Regarding this case, the Head of the Depok City Social Service, Usman Haliyana, confirmed the alleged cut in social assistance by village officials in Beji Village. However, he claimed to have ordered the lurah and camat to conduct an investigation into the case.
On the other hand, Usman said he was surprised by the news. Because the social assistance money should have been delivered directly to PT POS and given in cash.
“The BST was channeled by PT Pos, in cash to KPM (Beneficiary Families). Then I was confused, how to cut it. If it is not accepted by KPM, it is not possible,” he told CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (28/7).
