Aged 59 and from Burgundy, Christophe Bosson is the new operational boss of Banque Populaire Occitane (BPO) which covers eight departments *. He has just presented the 2020 balance sheet of the regional bank which has been managed for twenty years by Alain Condaminas, now retired. In spite of the crisis, the banking establishment carried out a distribution of credit in sharp increase carried by the loans guaranteed by the State (PGE) to help the companies in lack of cash. A third of the bank’s workforce was mobilized to study and unlock 8,300 EMPs for more than one billion euros. In addition, 28,000 deferrals of professional loans were automatically implemented in order to leave a total of € 243 million in company coffers. On the loan distribution side, the Banque Populaire Occitane granted a total of 4.3 billion euros in 2020, up 13%. Real estate was very dynamic with 12,000 home loans granted (+ 8.6%) as well as consumer loans with 24,500 loans (+ 9.9%). The bank continues its breakthrough in the agricultural market with loans up 4%. The recent crop freeze has caused BPO to postpone loan maturities to relieve farmers. Savings deposits have jumped 10%. In this context, the net banking income (equivalent to turnover) reached € 348.70 million (+ 0.6%) for a net income of € 68.20 million. This year again, the general meeting of members will still be held behind closed doors because of the Covid.
