Banning e-cigarettes indoors?

Will they ban e-cigarettes?

Electronic cigarettes to be banned in closed public places. This is what the “Smoke Free Bulgaria” organization insists on and suggests that the ban should also include hookahs and heated products. The government has already proposed not to sell flavored e-cigarettes. If these ideas are accepted, the products will not be available in stores and websites from January 1 next year, BNT reported.

Over the past year, more and more minors have been buying high-nicotine substitutes for cigarettes en masse. The Smoke Free Bulgaria organization has been demanding for years that electronic devices be banned in closed public places, as is already the practice in Ireland, France and the Scandinavian countries.

The main problem with electronic products is flavorings, which lead to a high risk of lung and cardiovascular diseases.

“These young people live in a myth that they are harmless. When the battery heats up, all these toxic substances evaporate and are taken into the respiratory system. Recently, however, vapes have been sold that contain a synthetic substance that is similar and analogous to tetrohydrocannabinol, which affects the central nervous system very strongly,” explained Dr. Sofia Angelova – pulmonologist.

Currently, there is a ban on smoking electronic cigarettes in public transport, the subway, as well as in most airlines.

A study by the National Center for Public Health shows that in Bulgaria 46% of women and 41% of men use these devices.
