A group of thieves have made off with a work of art by British street artist Banksy. The artwork, a silhouette of a howling wolf, was painted on a satellite dish.
The work was unveiled on Thursday but was soon stolen, with photos from British media showing someone taking the satellite dish.
The silhouette of the howling wolf was the street artist’s fourth artwork to be unveiled this week. Over the course of four days, Banksy unveiled a series of animal images in London. Earlier, the silhouettes of a goat, two elephants and three swinging monkeys appeared in the British capital.
Artist unknown
Banksy’s artworks often appear suddenly in public spaces. The identity of the artist is still unknown.
Late last year, a work by Banksy was also stolen. The artist had depicted a number of drones on a stop sign. Shortly after the artist confirmed the authenticity of the work on social media, two men removed the sign from the pole.

Painted over
The works are not always stolen. In 2016, a mural in Amsterdam, made possible by graffiti artist Banksy, was accidentally painted over. This happened when the University of Amsterdam’s facilities department had graffiti removed from university buildings in the centre of the capital. “Something went wrong, this was never the intention,” the university said.
The painting, Balloon Girl, showed a girl wearing a headscarf. She released a balloon in the shape of a heart. It was part of a series about Syrian children.
