The silhouette of a black cat on a fence in Cricklewood attracts attention (@banksy)
The enigmatic Banksy has once again captured the public’s attention with his latest intervention on the streets of London. On this occasion, the master of street art presented the sixth piece of his new series called ‘The London Zoo’, which features the silhouette of a black cat. The artist himself confirmed the authorship of this work through a post on his Instagram account. In the image, the feline can be seen perched on a worn-out billboard in the Cricklewood neighbourhood, northwest of the British capital.
This Cricklewood appearance is not a one-off event. The week began in Richmond’s Kew Green neighbourhood, where Banksy introduced the first piece of his ‘animal’ series on Monday 5 August. In this work, a goat is seen on top of a ledge, with several rocks falling off, while a surveillance camera is pointed directly at it.
The piece was followed by elephants, monkeys and a howling wolf in the Peckham neighbourhood of south-east London. The piece was removed just an hour after it was posted on social media. Local witnesses said: “A group of hooded men climbed onto the roof of the premises with a ladder, dismantled the satellite dish and ran away.”

Known for inspiring reflections on political, social and environmental issues through his street art, Banksy’s work remains highly valued around the world. The works he has presented on this occasion stand out not only for their artistic quality, but also for the messages they suggest about the relationship between nature and urban environments.
The Banksy phenomenon, which has captured the public’s imagination for years with his unique style and provocative messages, once again demonstrates his ability to surprise and provoke reflection. The works created at the ‘London Zoo’ not only represent a significant addition to his repertoire, but also act as a mirror reflecting the current state of our cities and the treatment of their public spaces.
Two elephants peering through a window in Chelsea are part of the work (@banksy)
On Tuesday, a new work appeared on a house in Chelsea, also in southwest London. This time, the silhouettes of two elephants with their trunks intertwined emerged from the building’s blocked-up windows. On Wednesday, a third work was unveiled on Brick Lane, near Grimsby Street and not far from Shoreditch High Street. This piece depicted a trio of monkeys swinging across a bridge. Banksy’s Instagram posts, though not captioned, have been taken by fans as confirmation of the works’ authenticity. This has increased online speculation about the meaning behind this animalistic series. Some theorized that the artist could be comparing recent far-right protesters to animals in a zoo.
With each new unveiling, Banksy reaffirms his position as one of the world’s most influential contemporary artists. His ability to combine visual art with powerful, far-reaching messages remains unrivalled. And as new works continue to appear in different corners of London, the public remains on tenterhooks, eager to discover what Banksy has in store next.
