Banks will open at 10:00 and companies will stagger payments of fortnights

The banks will delay your opening at 10:00 am in the Mexico City and they will look for companies to stagger payments to employees so that they do not focus on fortnight, according to an agreement of the Claudia Sheinbaum government with the Association of Banks of Mexico.

The head of government and the president of the Association of Banks of Mexico, Luis Niño de Rivera, made the announcement, which consists of five points in total, in the context of the pandemic by coronavirus.


“The banks have not been very supportive, but on some occasions where there are branches with high demand, it happens that on the outside there are significant crowds. This action is being coordinated directly with the Ministry of Mobility and with the Ministry of Citizen Security,” he indicated. the Secretary of Administration and Finance, Luz Elena González.

The above is part of the Cooperation Agreement for the Implementation of Measures to mitigate the spread of Covi-19, which aims to discourage the concentration of people in public spaces and the city’s public transport system.

In this sense, it was agreed to promote among the ABM member banks that bank employees who are working in the remote work format and who belong to the corporate offices located in the City, remain in this format until the Government of the City indicates that there are favorable conditions for the return to the corporate offices.

In addition, it will be promoted among the ABM member banks that the opening hours of the bank branches that operate in the city be at 10 a.m. Schedule
The above does not apply to bank branches located inside stores or shopping centers.

The use of the CODI platform will be promoted, to make and receive digital payments, among the organizations that make up the Business Coordinating Council, chambers, associations, unions, markets and street markets that operate in Mexico City.

In addition, companies belonging to the Business Coordinating Council, individuals and businesses will be invited to carry out, as far as possible and voluntarily, that the payment of wages is not made on the 15th and 30th of the same month.

In this sense, the different levels of governments will seek to deliver social programs in the same way without concentrating on the 15th and 30th of each month.

“We will try not to concentrate payments on those days, it is an invitation to stagger the payments of wages and their workers. Likewise, the City Government is committed to doing the same in the part that corresponds to the payment of social programs, “said Luz Elena González.

Meanwhile, the president of the ABM, Luis Niño de Rivera, explained that 80 percent of bank employees in Mexico City work remotely because they are those workers who are in corporations, while those who are at the branch, they represent only 20 percent.

He added that the branches that are in shopping centers or supermarkets will open at the time that these businesses do.
