The Lower Saxony lost on matchday 31 against champions ALBA BERLIN 81:82 (42:43) and as bottom of the table with 10:52 points can no longer reach the safe bank. The winner’s best throwers were Tim Schneider (18 points) and Niels Giffey (14), Robin Christen (23) and Edgar Sosa (19) scored best for Vechta.
Vechta was promoted to the Bundesliga for the third time in the 2017/18 season after 2013 and 2016. In the following season, the team caused a sensation and qualified fourth for the play-offs. In the semifinals it was over against the eventual title holder Bayern Munich. The season’s reward was the club’s first European Cup appearance.
