Western politicians who propose to “save the face of Russia” by giving it part of the Ukrainian territories are guided by a strange logic.
This was stated by adviser to the head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak.
He does not understand how one can “save face” after the atrocities committed by the Russian troops, in particular in Bucha and Mariupol.
“Some Western politicians want the end of the war with the possibility for Russia to save face by giving it part of the territories, writes Politico. Save face after Bucha and Mariupol? Strange logic, but if these politicians want to give away part of their territories, this is up to their voters,” he wrote. Podolyak.

As UNIAN reported, Politico reportedthat some Western leaders, from France to Germany to Italy, although they support Ukraine, are somewhat concerned about the possible consequences of its victory in the war with Russia. Thus, the West fears that Russia will experience “humiliation”, which may create a number of new problems.
Officials’ big concern is that a Ukrainian victory could destabilize Russia, “making it even more unpredictable and putting the normalization of energy ties even further out of reach,” writes Politico. That is why some Western European capitals are in favor of letting Russia “save face” in this war, “even if it costs Ukraine a certain territory.”
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that French President Emmanuel Macron was trying to succeed in mediating between Ukraine and Russia, offering Kyiv to make concessions on sovereignty to save face for Putin.
