Bankhaus Spängler: Rudolf Eder is the new head of the Linz branch

Rudolf Eder takes over in Bankhaus Spangler management of the branch in Linz. In this position, he succeeds the long-time head of Upper Austria, Johann Penzenstadler, who will retire at the end of June. Spängler is the oldest bank in Austria, currently employing more than 260 people at a total of nine locations. The customer volume of deposits, loans and securities is around 9.7 billion euros.

Eder has many years of experience in private banking. Born in Upper Austria, he lives in Enns and completed a degree in business consulting at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiener Neustadt. He has held various positions at well-known banks for more than 20 years, most recently as deputy head of the “Private Bank” division at Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich. Now he has moved to Bankhaus Spängler in Linz, where he will still be active together with his outgoing predecessor for a transitional phase before taking over management on July 1st. Eder is also an honorary board member of the Austrian Association of Financial Planners.

Assets under management increased tenfold to EUR 1.2 billion

The bank with its headquarters in Salzburg has had a branch on the main square in Linz for more than 20 years, which has been managed by Johann Penzenstadler since 2007. “Since then, the assets under management have increased tenfold from 120 million to 1.2 billion euros,” emphasizes Werner Zenz, spokesman for the Board of Directors at Bankhaus Spängler. “That is now twelve percent of the assets under management in the entire bank. In terms of income, Upper Austria’s share is even 14 percent.”

Martin Kaufmann becomes deputy manager

Penzenstadler already wishes his successor Rudolf Eder all the best and is convinced “that he will feel very comfortable with the great team in Linz.” Penzenstadler has been in the banking business since 1980. “I made the decision to retire this year more than a year ago, everything has been well prepared internally,” said the 63-year-old. Martin Kaufmann, who has worked in the Linz branch since 2009, has been the new deputy head since the middle of last year as head of the financing department.
