Bank of America is now the third largest shareholder of Renault, the group holding 7.34% of the capital of the French manufacturer and 5.44% of the voting rights through its subsidiaries, according to the threshold crossings announced on Tuesday to the Autorité des marchés financiers ( MFA).
Bank of America exceeded 5% of shares held following an acquisition of Renault SA shares on the market and an increase in Renault SA shares held by assimilation (conclusion of share loans, options and contracts of swaps cash settlement), explained the AMF in a press release.
The majority of these shares belong to Merrill Lynch International, in the form of more than 6 million chance swaps between April 19, 2022 and January 24, 2025, settled in cash at any time until their expiry date.
As of December 31, 2021, Renault’s capital was notably held 15% by its partner in the Alliance, the Japanese manufacturer Nissan, 15.01% by the French State (29.05% of voting rights), 5.06 % by the American fund Capital Group and 3.61% by its employees (5.3% of voting rights).
