Bank North, the UK’s first truly regional commercial bank of the modern era, has further increased its team, including the addition of Neil Boycott as chief credit risk officer, as the bank continues to move through its mobilization phase. The Prudential Regulation Authority granted him his banking license (Authorized with restrictions) in August.
Neil Boycott joins seven other new incumbents and will lead Bank North’s credit risk team, helping to develop and manage a robust process framework to ensure a smooth and secure loan process. Prior to joining Bank North, Neil held positions at Barclays, most recently including Senior Credit Risk Manager, and prior to that he worked at Lloyds Banking Group.
The other new members are Mia Hailwood joining as Change Manager, Michael Walsh as Treasury Agent, Rick Turpin as Solutions Architect and Adam Conroy as Accountant. Tom Briggs has been named Manager of IT Service Delivery, Kevin Glover as Manager of Loan and Proposal Products and Martin Elliott as Manager of Treasury and Secured Financing Operations. The new team members will fill positions in Bank North’s expanding IT, Risk, Finance, Commercial and Operations teams.
The new hires bring a wealth of experience in the financial services industry, in national and international brands such as NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC, as well as important regional players such as Leeds Building Society. Outside of banking, some of the newcomers have gone through multinational tech giant Microsoft, leading power company Drax Group, and former chain of stores Phones4U. The experienced team will play a vital role in building Bank North into a fast, modern and customer-oriented lender with the aim of transforming the UK SME loan market.
The latest growth in the Bank North team follows the appointment of Deepak Haria and Madis Toomsalu to the board in September. Since being granted a banking license and completing a successful round of ‘Series A’ financing, Bank North has made great progress in the mobilization phase to build the bank and will open its first regional ‘pod’ in Manchester later. of this month.
Jonathan Thompson, Co-Founder and CEO of Bank North said: “As Bank North continues to grow, it is great to welcome more experienced employees to our team. We are proud to be able to bring highly skilled jobs to Manchester, reaffirming our commitment to regionalizing SME lending. I look forward to working with our expanding team to offer the best possible bank to help UK SMEs prosper.
“As we move into our mobilization phase, I am pleased to welcome what feels like a steady stream of talent into the business. New entrants will provide invaluable experience to develop roles across Bank North. ”
