Bank Mandiri Customer Money Lost Rp. 128 Million, Suspected of Victim of ATM Skimming

To Ayobandung.com, Asrizal explained in detail the chronology of the incident. On February 6, 2021, he had time to check the balance at the Fatmawati ATM, Jakarta at around nine in the morning. At that time, the balance in his account was still intact, amounting to Rp. 128 million.

However, when he was about to make cash withdrawals at Blok M Square ATMs, it turned out that the balance in his account had gone completely empty, aka 0 rupiah.

He immediately contacted the Bank’s call center Independent to tell the chronology of events. When asked if there was someone who was not known at the ATM booth, Asrizal stated that there was no one other than him when he checked the balance at the ATM.

“In fact, it is not. Transactions at Fatmawati ATMs, ATM booths are very narrow and small, there is one ATM. When I use the ATM it runs smoothly, there are no problems,” he continued.

He said that after he checked his balance, he immediately kept his ATM card in his wallet. He also regretted from the party Independent did not provide CCTV footage at the Fatmawati ATM booth to date.

“To this day Independent did not provide the CCTV footage at the Fatmawati ATM to prove whether it was true that my ATM was exchanged, “he said.

“Because according to my belief, this is a skimming or cloning mode,” he explained.

He continued, when he reported the incident to the Bank Independent Melawai branch, the Bank Independent only provides records of transactions in the form of a checking account, with two transactions totaling Rp. 50 million on the same day after he checks the balance in the account.

He admitted that he did not know and did not know the perpetrator of the transaction.

“How could he exchange my card, while the (debit) card was already in my wallet, then after I went from Fatmawati ATM to Blok M Square ATM, the card could still be used to check the balance, but the balance was empty,” he explained.

“If the ATM card was exchanged, I would definitely not be able to check the balance at the Blok M Square ATM,” he explained.

Asisten Vice President Bank Independent, Budiman Suhail said, transactions made at ATMs go through a verification process using a card Independent Correct discharge, and valid pin.

“So with great regret, we cannot replace the funds for this transaction,” said Budiman in his response letter.
