Jakarta –
Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo stated that rupiah banknotes were the best in the world. This is in line with the 2022 Year of Emission (TE) Rupiah denominations which have been named by the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) as the best new banknote series at the 17th Currency Award 2023 in Mexico.
“Indonesian paper money is the best in the world, champion. In 2023 it will be the best money in the whole world. We will present it and at the same time we are proud of our proclaimers Bung Karno and Bung Hatta,” Perry said, in his remarks at the Rupiah Festival. Sovereign of Indonesia (FERBI), Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (18/8/2023).
Not only that, banknotes issued by BI are guaranteed not to be counterfeited. Head of BI Money Management Department Marlison Hakim said the 2022 output rupiah was produced using super-sophisticated technology so that it could not be counterfeited.
“Why can’t it be counterfeited? Because the material for money is a limited supplier, only certain world players. Second, the ink is special which is not traded. So it cannot be copied (copy). Not to mention the printing press. So that counterfeiting cannot be done,” he explained, when found separately.
Marlison said, it cannot be denied that all the money in the world always has the intention of counterfeiting it. However, in terms of production technology will never be the same. Therefore, the product may resemble but can never match.
“We have had a report but it has not come to us, it’s just an ordinary report. After being traced it turned out to be like, I’m sorry, it’s just laser-printed, it can’t anymore,” he said.
Not only that, he also said that banknotes issued by BI could not be photocopied. When photocopied, even using a colored ink machine, what will come out is still white paper with black ink.
“These friends have money now, photocopies, just photocopies, want photocopies of all kinds of colors. It’s the latest technology that if it comes out it’s definitely the color of the item. Try it. When it comes out, there’s black white paper. Because d Inside we have hidden technology that if you take any color photocopies, the color will not come out,” he explained.
Marlison guarantees that rupiah production is carried out with super high security. BI itself has three levels of levels. First, get to know the rupiah from the visible side by looking at it. Second, from the cash order side, where users of money, such as banks and cashiers, are equipped with ultraviolet and technology that can check the authenticity of money. Finally, the third, only BI himself knows.
“Yesterday there was information that the color of jasmine is similar, it won’t be the same. Because our jasmine is definitely like this, it must be colorful and it moves. It won’t work. Because of that, the ink technology and printing technology are different,” said Marlison.
“The findings of counterfeiting on the previous sheets were mostly conventional using a laser printer, with plain paper. Yes, of course, if we hold it, it is slippery. If the original banknotes are worn out, whatever you hold, the paper must be rough,” he added.
