Bank grants 1.2 million euro loan for construction of solar power plant in Inčukalna parish

Bank “Citadele” granted a loan of 1.2 million euros to the investment company “Merito Partners” SIA for the construction of a solar power plant in Inčukalna parish of Sigulda region, representatives of the bank told LETA agency.

The bank states that the total cost of the project is 2.17 million euros, of which 1.2 million were raised from the bank “Citadele”.

The solar power plant “Inčukalna SES” will be built on the territory of 4.5 hectares near the parish of Inčukalna. A total of 5,600 solar panels will be placed in the area.

The bank states that currently the preparation of the territory has been completed, and the construction of power plant structures and cable lines has begun. This summer, solar panels will be placed on the territory of the solar power plant, followed by testing and commissioning of the power plant, which is expected to be implemented by the fall of this year.

“Inčukalnas SES” will have a capacity of 3.1 megawatts (MW) and will produce at least 3.3 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually.

Experts from the company “Saules Energy” were engaged for the implementation of the project.

It has already been reported that “Citadele” bank previously granted “Merito Partners” a loan of 2.8 million euros for the construction of a solar power plant in Brenguļi parish, Valmiera region. The total cost of this project is planned to be almost five million euros.

The project will house more than 12,000 solar panels on an area of ​​8.7 hectares. The capacity of the solar power plant will be seven MW and it is expected that the power plant will be able to produce almost seven million kWh of electricity per year.

“Merito Partners” was registered in June 2022, and its share capital is 200,000 euros. The owners of the company are Aigars Kesenfelds (76.92%), Mārtiņš Baumanis (11.83%), Mikus Janvars (5.92%), Jānis Pizičs (2.96%), Laila Hartmane (1.18%) and Vairis Dmitrijevs (1.18%).

It was also reported that the audited profit of “Citadele” bank in 2022 was 42.183 million euros, which is 42.3% more than in 2021. The bank’s assets at the end of 2022 amounted to 5.12 billion euros.

The bank’s shareholders are RA Citadele Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of the US investment company Ripplewood, and a group of international investors (75% plus one share), as well as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (25% minus one share). According to the amount of assets, “Citadele” bank was the third largest bank in Latvia at the end of 2022. Its bonds are included in the list of debt securities of the “Nasdaq Riga” stock exchange.
