Bank Aladin’s Profit Drops 42% in 2020, Parent Shopee Away?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Bank Net Indonesia Syariah Tbk (BANK), which recently changed its name to PT Bank Aladin Syariah Tbk has just submitted its financial reports for 2020.

Bank Aladin posted revenues of Rp 31.27 billion throughout 2020, down 39.23% from the previous year with revenues reaching Rp 51.47 billion. This income is income from non-operations in the 2020 pandemic year.

The decline in Bank Aladin’s income resulted in a shrinking of the company’s profits. Throughout 2020, Aladin’s Bank recorded a net profit of IDR 44.86 billion, a decrease of 41.96% from the previous year.

Bank Aladin’s assets increased slightly to Rp 721.39 billion. Meanwhile, the company’s liabilities decreased significantly by 66.67% to IDR 39.96 billion from 2019 which reached IDR 119.90 billion.

The company’s equity was recorded to have decreased by 7.65% to Rp 641.27 billion at the end of 2020.

Previously, it was rumored that Bank Aladin was being approached by the parent e-commerce Shopee’s giant, Sea Ltd, but not long after this issue was denied by Sea management who said it had not held discussions regarding strategic cooperation with the bank which was founded in 1995.

In the capital market, BANK shares were opened and were still struggling in the red zone at the close of session one (3/5), down 0.88% to the level of Rp 3,390 / share. In the last week BANK shares fell 0.88% and a month rose 27.92%. Its market capitalization reaches IDR 44.72 trillion.
