Bangladesh Reels Under Severe Heat Wave with Widespread Power Cuts

Dhaka: Bangladesh in grip of severe heat wave. The country is going through the longest heat wave it has witnessed in half a century. Thousands of schools across the country have been closed due to the heat wave. With the reduced power generation, widespread power cuts have made people’s lives miserable.

Temperatures in the capital Dhaka reached 40 degrees Celsius. The operation of the country’s largest power plant has been suspended since Monday due to coal shortage. The country went into hours-long power cuts as power production at other plants declined.

In some rural areas, the power cut lasts for six to ten hours a day, making people miserable. Health problems related to high temperature are also prevalent in many people.
