Bangkok Metropolitan Government spokesperson Ekvarunio Amapala revealed on the 22nd that in the past five months, the amount of garbage received by the city’s garbage management station and the cost of garbage disposal have dropped significantly.

He said that from February to the end of June, the total amount of garbage received in the city of Bangkok has decreased by 67,248 tons, which is equivalent to a reduction of about 444 tons per day. Compared with the same period last year, the cost of garbage disposal has decreased by 127.8 million baht in the past five months.

Ekvarunio Amapala said that this is the result of the implementation of waste classification management. The Bangkok Metropolitan Government has joined hands with the city’s community and 998 companies, as well as various educational institutions, fresh markets, and religious places to implement this waste classification management initiative. The Bangkok Municipal Government advocates that everyone divide garbage into wet garbage, dry garbage and recyclable garbage, and then collect and dispose of garbage at the garbage management station.
