Banecuador warned this Tuesday 13 September 2022 of a new form of scam circulating on the Internet, but above all that is implemented through the WhatsApp messaging service.
The state body specified that “unscrupulous people make calls and text messages to citizens in general to indicate that ‘they will receive an economic compensation of $ 500 for five years if they convince 350 people to open an account of $ 40 in Banecuador'” . He added that cybercriminals also ask for passwords and personal information.
That said, Banecuador has indicated that it “categorically refuses” this type of act. This is why it asks citizens to “find out about our financial products and services, in our official accounts”.
