Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Telangana BJP President and Lok Sabha MP from Karimnagar constituency, has been granted conditional bail in a case related to the leak of secondary school exam papers. The bail comes with a Rs 20,000 surety from a magistrate court in Warangal, on the condition that he co-operates with the investigation and does not leave the country or threaten witnesses. Bandi Sanjay Kumar was initially put under preventive arrest by police after being picked up by a team from his home in Karimnagar City. He has been accused of conspiring with others to create rumours and provoke a breach of the peace during the ongoing SSC public examination, with a view to defaming the government. The BJP leader had previously been remanded in judicial custody until April 19, but the Telangana High Court refused to quash the remand and advised Kumar’s legal team to apply for bail at a lower magistrate court.
