This Saturday, March 25, the Latvian “death / thrash / groove metal” band “Māra” will perform at the Riga club “Melnā Piektdiena”. This concert will be special in that the musicians will perform again in their homeland after a long break and unite on one stage: the band’s vocalist Mara Lysenko and her husband, bassist Dmitrijs Lysenko currently live in Austria, while guitarist Deniss Melniks and drummer Alberts Mednis live in Latvia.
It is planned that the concert will play sound material from “Mara’s” last studio album “Self-Destruct. Survive. Thrive!”, which last week won the Latvian Metal Music of the Year award as the best heavy music album of 2020, as well as the previous album “Therapy For An Empath”. For this, the group “Māra” received the Latvian Metal Music of the Year award in 2019, and in addition to that, Māra Lisenko also won the annual award as the best vocalist. The concert also promises the premieres of two new songs, as well as a special surprise. “This will be a very important event for us, besides, you never know if it won’t be our only concert in Latvia this year, so come!” calls Mara.
It should be noted that on March 25, Latvia will also celebrate Spring Maras Day, but the leader of the group “Māra” will have her name day. “I love the double holiday!” says Mara Lysenko. “The concert in itself is a big celebration, and I’m glad that this time it will coincide with a personal celebration, so anyone will be able to come to this double celebration of mine – not only family, relatives and close friends!”
The group “Māra” was created in 2018, it has performed at concerts and festivals in Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Great Britain and elsewhere. The group has released two mini-albums – “Therapy For An Empath” (2018) and “Self-Destruct. Survive. Thrive!” (2020). The leader of the group, Māra Lisenko, is one of the most recognized owners of female extreme vocals in Europe, a certified alternative vocal teacher and head of the Alternative Vocal Studio.
