The Food Bank of the Costa del Sol has transformed, due to the coronavirus pandemic, its traditional collection of donations of supermarket products into a virtual collection of economic contributions through transfers with which to buy food for the most needy. Different social associations in Malaga have explained in Hoy por Hoy how important the food aid they receive from this charity is, since with the current health and economic crisis they have had to double their attention.

Bancosol, which helps 50,528 end users and serves 176 social entities in Malaga and the province, foresees hard times for many families after the current crisis and is preparing for the increase in unemployment. From November 16 to 22, the “Great Virtual Collection 2020” will take place., an action that becomes telematic so as not to expose the more than 4,000 volunteers who participate in the campaign to hypothetical infections, with which it is intended to exceed the 647,000 kilograms achieved last year.

Bancosol has organized 400 teams made up of 10 volunteers each, who will dedicate themselves to obtaining the contributions and then planning the food purchases with which to cover future needs. Volunteers will create a solidarity network using social networks and phone calls, donations can be made through the Bizum application or bank accounts.
Those interested in collaborating may do so through Bizum–Application to make and receive payments-, in the “Make donation” section, the user must enter the code of the non-governmental organization (NGO), which in the case of Bancosol is 00887, and the amount you want to contribute.
