Banco Agrario and Previsora Seguros, seek to generate a strategy that aims to promote Colombian agriculture through the products, Banca de las Oportunidades and Agricultural Insurance, taking advantage of the national coverage of both entities that, in the initial stage, have 177 offices nationwide .
The objective is to favor the target population of the Popular and Community Economy (EPC) program, who will access financing for their agricultural projects in the formal financial sector for the first time. Previsora Seguros aims to include the rural population less favored by the traditional financial system, prioritizing the insurance of small and medium-sized businesses.
In the short term, the feasibility of parametric insurance (an insurance made to measure by parameters) for potato crops in Boyacá and coffee in Huila is being structured. Traditional agricultural insurance is being marketed in the departments of Antioquia, Valle de Cauca, and Risaralda, focusing on large, medium, and small agricultural industries.
To date, significant progress has been made in the contract model signed between Previsora Seguros and Banco Agrario. This document and the service level agreements are the guidelines for the sale price, billing, claim filing and the process that would be executed by Banco Agrario.
