The ban on trading on Sundays is to be tightened. It concerns changes to the exception allowing the opening, on days covered by the ban, of shops providing postal services. Janusz Śniadek from Law and Justice in an interview with “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” announced that the draft amendment to the law will be submitted to the Sejm at the beginning of July.

The amendment to the act is ready, it will go to the Sejm at the beginning of July – Janusz Śniadek announced in an interview with the newspaper. The PiS MP piloted the work on the bill that has been in force for over three years.

Śniadek expressed his hope that the changes to the Sunday trading ban would be quickly adopted and that the provisions of the MP’s bill would enter into force before the end of the summer holidays.

Amendments to the ban on trade

The information from the journal shows that the shop will be able to operate on non-trading Sundays as a post office, provided that this type of activity is dominant for it. The newspaper announced plans to introduce a requirement that in the month preceding the inspection by the National Labor Inspectorate, total revenues from activities described as “predominant” should amount to over 50 percent.

It is also planned to introduce for entities willing to take advantage of the exemption the requirement to keep records of revenues with a division into activities entitling to the exemption and other.

“However, lawyers are asking who will be able to verify compliance with the requirements in this regard. As they note, PIP does not have such powers at the moment,” wrote “DGP”.

Deputy minister on changes

The Ministry of Development, Labor and Technology was asked about the exceptions concerning post offices in a parliamentary question.

Deputy Minister of Development, Labor and Technology, Iwona Michałek, stressed that all information received by the ministry related to the application of the Act of 10 January 2018 on the restriction of trade on Sundays and public holidays and on certain other days, as well as the demands for changes to this act being analyzed “.

“In addition, in order to obtain more complete information on the compliance with the provisions of the above-mentioned act, the ministry is waiting for the Chief Labor Inspector’s Report on the activities of the National Labor Inspectorate for 2020,” the deputy minister informed. As she added, “its conclusions will also be analyzed”.

There will be three more trading Sundays until the end of the year: August 29, December 12 and December 19.
