Recall Initiated After Discovery of Unstable Temperature Readings

Bambu Lab, a leading 3D printer manufacturer, has officially issued a recall for all A1 3D printers, except for the A1 Mini, due to safety concerns.

The company has strongly urged A1 printer owners to discontinue use immediately after receiving reports of unstable temperature readings. The root cause of the issue was traced back to a faulty heatbed cable identified last week, according to reports by Tom’s Hardware.

Bambu Lab has disclosed that less than 0.1% of all A1 printers sold have been affected. However, due to an unknown issue potentially impacting a subset of printers, they have decided to recall the entire A1 line to ensure customer safety.

Options for Affected A1 Printer Owners

Bambu Lab offers several options for A1 printer owners affected by the recall:

  1. Full Refund: Owners can choose to receive a full refund for their A1 printer.
  2. Swap for Another Bambu Printer: Owners can apply the refund amount as an $80 voucher towards the purchase of another Bambu Lab printer model, such as the X1 series, P1 series, or the A1 Mini.
  3. Self-Repair: Bambu Lab will release new heatbeds by the end of March, enabling owners to repair their A1 printers themselves. Owners who opt for self-repair will receive a $120 voucher to use for any purchases in Bambu Lab’s online store.

Process and Warranty Details

A1 printer owners must indicate their preferred option on Bambu Lab’s registration page to facilitate the appropriate parts allocation. Opting for the self-repair process extends the A1’s warranty by six months. The company has stated that official resellers should offer the same terms to their customers.

Support and Assistance

Bambu Lab encourages A1 printer owners to visit their support page if they have any questions or require additional information. The company has provided a video tutorial and a written guide to help owners decide if they wish to pursue the self-repair option.

During their blog update last week, Bambu Lab shared images that highlight the difference between a damaged heatbed cable and a healthy one.
