The statement by the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Bambang Wuryanto or Bambang Pacul, who said that the ratification of the bill had to go through the blessing of the Ketum of political parties, became a polemic. The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md considered it a mere joke.
“Yeah, just kidding, I think,” said Mahfud after completing the ‘Ramadan Bil Jami’ah 1444 H Lesehan Study’ at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Mosque on Saturday (1/3/2023), as reported by detikJateng Sunday (2/4/2023).
Mahfud assessed that Bambang Pacul was a person who liked to joke.
“Sir (Bambang) Pacul likes to joke,” he continued.
Previously, DPR Commission III chairman Bambang Wuryanto or Bambang Pacul answered a request by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md to help ratify two laws. Mahfud’s blunt ‘request’ went smoothly as long as it got the blessing of the political party heads in parliament.
The two laws in question are the Asset Confiscation Bill and the Bill on Restrictions on Currency Transactions. Pacul said the members of his commission took a stance according to orders from their respective political parties.
