Baltimore: The last victim from the collapse of the bridge was pulled out – 2024-05-08 20:20:50

The body of the last victim of the bridge collapse in Baltimore has been recovered by the US authorities.

It is recalled that six people died in the incident, as announced by the authorities in the state of Maryland (eastern coast of the USA).

The Dali, a 300-meter-long container ship, struck a pier on Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26, causing it to collapse.

Six workers who were carrying out repair work on the roadway of the bridge that was hit by the ship were missing. Two others had been rescued.

The victim, whose body was found yesterday, was identified by authorities as Jose Minor Lopez, a 37-year-old laborer from Baltimore.

“Today, Jose Minor Lopez, the sixth and final missing victim, was recovered,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott told Platform X.

Work to fully reopen the channel will continue “as we close the chapter on this (retraction) effort,” said M. Scott.

The collapse of the bridge led to a partial blockade of sea transport in one of the country’s busiest ports.

The FBI and the National Transportation Safety Board opened an investigation into the crash.
