Chinese authorities have admitted the destruction of a critical gas pipeline between Estonia and Finland following an internal investigationas reported by the South China Morning Post on the basis of the Chinese investigation report. Last October, the Chinese container ship NewNew Polar Bear, flying the Hong Kong flag, severed the Balticonnector pipeline, Finland’s most important energy source, and two telecom cables with an anchor. The Chinese side explains that a storm had caused the incident.
