CHICAGO- Starting this Saturday, the city of Chicago will have the first casino in the historic Medinah Temple in River North, expanding the city’s entertainment, after meeting regulatory requirements this week by the administration of the Gaming Board. Illinois (IGB).
Bally’s Casino is located at 600 North Wabash. It will officially open its doors at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9 at 4:00 a.m. and will be open seven days a week. Bally’s Chicago promises to redefine the entertainment landscape as the first and only casino in Chicago, beyond gaming entertainment and dining.
The casino opening in the Windy City has three levels of play with almost 800 slot machines. It has machines and 56 table games and promises to boost the local economy with the creation of more than 700 permanent jobs.
Bally’s Casino added that the entertainment center will feature different dining options and full-service casino bars on the first and third levels. There is also the Wabash Café, offering a selection of fast food and specialty coffee options for those looking for a lighter meal or caffeine boost.
Bally’s Casino Chicago becomes Illinois’ 15th casino, the fifth to open following the 2019 gaming expansion law and the third to open since late May of this year. Within 30 days, the IGB will receive upfront fees of more than $135 million from the casino to be deposited into the Rebuild Illinois Fund for infrastructure projects across the state.
For its part, the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) stated that the casino will open on Saturday, September 9 and advised motorists and pedestrians to expect additional traffic in the area. He also added that Traffic Control Assistants (TCA) will be on site to facilitate the flow of traffic and the Chicago Police Department will be present. OEMC will monitor the event from the city’s Operations Center (OC).
