MFG (human freedom fundamental rights) – celebrates its first birthday
Vienna (OTS) – So a year ago on Valentine’s Day, the People-Freedom-Basic Rights party (often apostrophized “Best regards”) was founded as a protest movement against inappropriate Covid measures and the impending obligation to vaccinate, it was initially ignored by the media, then as right-wing swaggerers and esoterics – Group disparaged.
MFG’s successes are now also reported internationally – most recently on Al Jazeera or in the renowned Financial Times. The founder of the new movement is the Viennese lawyer Dr. Michael Brunner, who has previously implemented several successful constitutional complaints against the Covid measures. “We are not a party in the classic sense, we are a citizens’ movement and will defend people’s freedoms and fundamental rights,” said the lawyer. The MFG quickly achieved political landslide victories: On the occasion of its first stand in the Upper Austrian state elections, it was the election winner and entered the state parliament with 6.23%. In the local council elections in February in the deep black Waidhofen an der Ybbs – the home of NR President Wolfgang Sobotka – the MFG broke the absolute of the ÖVP and got 17.1% right away.
freedom and fundamental rights
And that was just the beginning: “We will stand in all elections in Austria,” announced party leader Brunner. “We will hold those responsible in politics, the pharmaceutical industry and science accountable. Austria is in a heap of rubble: politics has ruined the middle class, sabotaged the education of the young, isolated the elderly and divided society. While life has become extremely expensive for people, a few minions have made fortunes with the pointless Covid measures,” notes Brunner. “And we will do everything to ensure that the numerous restrictions on fundamental rights, including mandatory vaccinations, in this country are reversed. Because the MFG focuses on the citizens and their basic rights to freedom and physical integrity.”
Balloons as a symbol of movement
The MFG balloons – as they were distributed at the rallies – have now become a symbol of this movement. In the meantime, the party – which is only financed by donations from the population – already has 23,000 members, and the trend is rising sharply. “We started a year ago with no funds. 500 local groups set up in one year and are represented in all federal states. In the local council elections in Tyrol on February 27th, we are running with 51 citizens’ lists and 21 mayoral candidates. The youngest, Sebastian Hönigsberger in Mayerhofen, is only 19,” says party manager Dr. Gerhard Pöttler proud. The qualified health economist was the director of various hospitals (including the SALK in Salzburg) before co-founding MFG.
