Ballon d’Or: Lionel Messi crowned for the eighth time – AGP

Libreville, October 30, 2023 (AGP) – The Argentine striker came at the top of the votes, ahead of the Norwegian Erling Haaland and the French Kylian Mbappe.

Lionel Messi won the France Football Ballon d’Or this Monday, rewarding the best player of the 2022-2023 season.

The brilliant Argentine succeeds Frenchman Karim Benzema, winner of the trophy last year. A sign of his domination of world football, the current captain of Inter Miami thus becomes the first footballer to be crowned Ballon d’Or, while playing in Major League Soccer (MLS).

World champion (best player of the tournament) with the Argentina selection and champion of France under the colors of Paris Saint-Germain at club level, Lionel Messi, author of 38 goals and 25 assists in all competitions (TCC) in 54 outings, has added a new Ballon d’Or to its gigantic trophy cabinet which already contained seven in this category.

He is a little further behind his great rival, the Portuguese, Cristiano Ronaldo, who only has five. Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen finished in eighth place.
