This year, the Ballon d’Or by the specialist magazine “France Football”. For the first time, UEFA will be co-organizing the award. The “Ballon d’Or” was known as “Europe’s Footballer of the Year” until 2006 and was first awarded in 1956. The Golden Ball award is not a replacement for the FIFA World Footballer of the Year vote and is considered the more prestigious individual award. Lionel Messi is the sole record holder and was able to lift the trophy for the eighth time last year.

Ballon d’Or 2024: TV broadcast, date and location
The 68th Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place on Monday, 28. October 2024im Chatelet Theater in Paris The award for the best footballer in the world refers to the 2023/24 season and not to performances within the calendar year. The event will begin at 8.30 p.m.The award ceremony will again be broadcast live on TV this year. There will also be a live stream via SkyGo and WOW for the Ballon d’Or 2024.

These players are nominated for the Golden Ball
Toni Kroos has been nominated for a Golden Ball following his retirement as a professional footballer. The former international player is on the nomination list for the Ballon d’Or, as is his former Real Madrid teammate Antonio Rüdiger. International player Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and ex-Dortmund player Mats Hummels, who is moving to AS Roma in Italy, can also hope to win a trophy. In the women’s category, German international players Lea Schüller, Giulia Gwinn and Sjoeke Nüsken made it onto the shortlist. Neither record winner Lionel Messi nor Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo are included this year. For the first time since 2003, neither of the two superstars is up for election. Ballon d’Or Favorites: Who has the best chances?
The big question is: Who will win the Ballon d’Or 2024? Here, midfield engine Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante have the edge. The Spaniard, who uses the short form “Rodri“, is the linchpin of Manchester City’s game and also the playmaker in the Spanish national team. In the summer of 2024, he led Spain to the European Championship title. After the tournament, he was honored with the title of “Best Player of EURO 2024”. Rodri also won the English championship with City, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
But also Jude Bellingham can legitimately hope for the Golden Ball. The English superstar from Real Madrid played an outstanding season with his club. With Vinicius Junior In addition to Bellingham, there is a second Madrid player among the Ballon d’Or favorites.
