Ballon d’Or 2024, top 3: Are Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo nominated?
For the first time in two decades, neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo were nominated for the Ballon d’Or. The two superstars are at the end of their careers and are no longer fighting for the most prestigious titles in football at club level. Ronaldo, 39, is in his third season for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, while Lionel Messi, 37, is in his second MLS season for Inter Miami.
Rodri from Manchester City seems to be the best cards for the Ballon d’Or, as well as the two Real Madrid stars Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham. However, Messi’s favorite is his compatriot Lautaro Martinez. “He’s had a fantastic year. He scored in the final and was top scorer in the Copa America. He deserves the Ballon d’Or more than anyone else.”
