Ballon d’Or 2023: Robert Lewandowski’s Placement and Plebiscite Results

The Ballon d’Or is a trophy awarded by the French magazine “France Football” since 1956. It was not awarded only once – in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The highest-ranked Polish player in the history of the plebiscite is Robert Lewandowski, who took second place in 2021.

This time, however, the FC Barcelona striker was missing in Paris. As we wrote in our pages, the Pole decided not to accept the invitation before El Clasico, when he did not know at what stage his rehabilitation would be.

At the beginning of September, France Football magazine presented a list of 30 players nominated in the plebiscite. On Monday, we learned the final classification, including Robert Lewandowski’s place.

The Pole placed 12th. This is his worst result since 2018, when he was not among the nominees at all. In the two previous editions, the sniper took fourth (2022) and second (2021) place.
