Grieta Grīnbergs participated in the competition with Elza Leimane’s choreography “Strings” created especially for her, which brought the artist first place in the 5th International Baltic Ballet Competition already in the summer.
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious competition despite all the circumstances. It is fantastic that the organizers are ready to continue the competitions. It gives confidence that no conditions will stand up and we will continue to dance, ”said Grieta Grīnberga.
Grieta Grīnberga graduated from the Riga Ballet School, and since 2020 she has been an artist of the Latvian National Ballet. So far, the young ballet dancer has already achieved great success in the Grasa International Ballet Competition in France, the Stora Daldansen Competition in Sweden, and the Spoleto International Ballet Competition.
The South African International Ballet Competition has been taking place since 2008, and Latvian ballet dancers Elza Leimane, Annija Kopštāle, Kārlis Cīrulis and Raimonds Martinovs have won prizes. This year’s competition took place in a hybrid form from October to 23 – local dancers participated in person, but foreign ballet artists submitted video works.
