Paulo Meneses, president of the SDUQ of Paços de Ferreira, considers that the announcement of the return of the public to the stadiums, in the last round of the League, is nothing more than “an attempt to whiten” the celebrations of the Sporting title.
«I think it’s an attempt to whiten what happened yesterday [terça-feira], which was a real shame. It would be more fair if Sporting had people watching the game at the stadium to the extent authorized by the health authorities. It is not by chance and I do not see this news come out today with naivety ”, he maintained, in statements to the Renascença Radio.
«Perhaps it would be being treated, but the decision is clearly influenced by what happened yesterday. I have been fighting for this measure for a long time and I am sorry that it only appears now for cosmetic reasons. But nothing that surprises me », said Paulo Meneses.
The leader of the Pacense emblem, who ends the League with a trip to Tondela, regrets that the measure only applies to the 34th and final day.
«I think it should have been two days, in which the clubs could play one game at home and one away, for the sake of equality. The same criterion should have been applied in both rounds. Thus, with 10 percent of the stadium’s capacity, Paços de Ferreira could have 10 or 30 fans in Tondela. It is a shame, comparing this number with what happened yesterday, it is ridiculous », he shot.
