Bali United Dominates Stallion Laguna in AFC Cup Match: Full Recap and Lineup

Bali United beat representatives of the Philippines, Stallion Laguna with a score of 5-2 on the fifth matchday of the group stage AFC Cup this season. An additional three points kept Serdadu Tridatu’s hopes of advancing to the knockout phase.

Playing at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Wednesday (29/11/2023), the hosts opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Andhika Wijaya completed Eber Bessa’s pass to break into Stallion’s goal which was guarded by Hayeson Pepito.

Mohammed Rashid doubled Bali United’s lead in the 33rd minute. The Palestinian midfielder responded to a wild ball at the front of the penalty box by firing a long-range shot into the top left corner of the goal without Pepito being able to reach it. Score 2-0 closed the first half.

Bali United continued their dominance in the second half by scoring the third goal in the 51st minute. It started with Ardi Idrus’ header which Pepito was able to block, but Elias Dolah snatched the wild ball to break into Stallion.

Bessa didn’t want to miss out on breaking into Stallion’s goal. In the 65th minute, he made a cut-inside action from the left sector then fired a spectacular shot into the right corner of Pepito’s goal.

Stallion had time to put up resistance. In the 69th minute, Jayvee Kallukaran completed Kraig Bonanken’s pass to break into Muhammad Ridho’s goal, who came on to replace Adilson Maringa, changing the score to 1-4.

The goal sparked Stallion’s enthusiasm. Griffin McDaniel added a goal for the visitors in the final minute after completing Kallukaran’s cross with a header that Ridho couldn’t block.

However, Jefferson Assis sealed Bali United’s victory with a score of 5-2 in the 86th minute. Receiving Irfan Jaya’s breakthrough pass, the Brazilian striker then passed Pepito in a one-on-one duel before hitting the ball into the empty net.

This result means that Bali United now has seven points and sits in third place in Group G, behind Terengganu (nine points) and Central Coast Mariners (10 points). Meanwhile, Stallion is in the lowest position with just one point.

Bali United will face Terengganu in the final group stage match on Wednesday (13/12).
