Bali Tower Beber about the Rp. 2 Billion Money in the Case of Student Sultan Rif’at Alfatih

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — PT Bali Towerindo stated that the Rp 2 billion offered to the family of Sultan Rif’at Alfatih was a request from the victim. Although this value is still less than the requested amount, which is Rp. 10 billion.

“It was the family who asked for the money. So it was not Bali Tower who offered the funds,” said PT Bali Towerindo attorney Maqdir Ismail to reporters, Thursday (3/8).

“They asked Bali Tower for treatment. However, please provide us with proof of expenses for the medical expenses,” he added.

Maqdir also emphasized that the money was merely a form of empathy from the company, not compensation money for mistakes made. The reason, he claimed that the incident was purely an accident, not part of the company’s negligence.

“What has been done once again is that this offer is a sense of empathy, that there are children who have experienced misfortune,” he said.

Previously, Fatih, the father of Sultan Rif’at Alfatih, explained his reasons for not accepting the offer of Rp. 2 billion from PT Bali Towerindo, a fiber optic cable provider, which snapped the Sultan’s neck, breaking his throat bone. He said the money offer was unethical.

“This is not about money, this is about ethics,” said Fatih when contacted by JawaPos.com, Thursday (3/8).

Before deciding to give that much compensation money, he said the company should have at least made a fuss first. Instead of giving it directly, let alone through a third person.

“At least come first who can make a decision, or meet me or call me, I will come there,” he explained.
