Indonesia reports that there have been 8 cases of Omicron subvariant BA.4 and BA.5. The Indonesian Lung Doctors Association (PDPI) reminded again the importance of health protocols.
Amid the loosening of various restrictions, the number of daily COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has been observed to increase. Although thin, this trend is in the spotlight because it was accompanied by the confirmation of 8 cases of the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants.
“We know that BA.4 and BA.5 in various parts of the world are one of the causes of an increase in cases in these countries,” said Dr. Dr. Agus Dwi Susanto, Chairperson of PDPI, in a webinar, Sunday (12/6). /2022).
Singapore and the United States, according to Dr. Agus, are among the countries experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases due to the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants. Therefore, he reminded the importance of taking preventive measures.
“From various aspects, of course, prevention of transmission from any variant of COVID-19 must still be a concern, namely carrying out health protocols that must be carried out by the community,” said Dr. Agus.
