Balearic returnees must pay attention to this from Monday

The regulation on entry requirements has even changed. Here, too, you need a negative test or go into quarantine for ten days.

The Ministry of Health issued the adapted corona entry regulation on Friday evening. The strict entry rules due to the corona pandemic will be extended to the Balearic Islands from Monday, as announced. People traveling through Austria must fill out a form.

As of Monday (00:00 on August 24), a travel warning will also apply to the Balearic Islands, and according to the amended regulation – analogous to previous risk areas – Balearic returnees must submit a negative PCR test, which must not be older than three days . If you cannot show a negative PCR test on arrival from the Balearic Islands on Monday, the same provisions apply as for the existing risk areas: Without a test, you have to go to home quarantine for ten days and arrange a corona test there within 48 hours . If this is negative, you can leave the quarantine.

These regulations of the Corona Entry Ordinance by Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) already affect more than 30 risk areas. Most recently, the list of affected countries was expanded to include mainland Spain on August 10, and Croatia since this Monday. The newly affected Balearic Islands are: Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. With regard to Spain, only those travelers who are returning to Austria from the Canary Islands are still exempt from the strict measures.

The measures for the Balearic Islands against the background of increasing corona numbers affect around 3,000 people – around 1,000 package travelers and 1,500 to 2,000 individual tourists from Austria, as the President of the Austrian Travel Association and TUI Austria authorized representative, Josef Peterleithner, explained on Wednesday. Those coming home from the Balearic Islands who entered Austria from August 14th to 23rd or will still be able to travel to Austria can now be tested for SARS-CoV-2 free of charge up to and including Friday, August 28th. You should report to health number 1450 – even without symptoms.

There are currently 38 “drive-ins” for free test options throughout Austria, which have already been and are being offered to those returning to Croatia. For those returning from Croatia, this applies until tomorrow, Friday.

Against the background of the global corona pandemic, the Foreign Ministry continues to urgently advise against all unnecessary trips abroad. No repatriation actions by the federal government from the Balearic Islands are planned.
