Hollywood action movie star Dwayne Johnson, known as The Rock, has announced that he will never use real weapons in his films again. He is reacting to a tragic accident when actor Alec Baldwin shot a cameraman while shooting films.
Few Johnson’s actor can be imagined by anything other than as a hero of action movies. The use of weapons is inextricably linked to these. But that will change now.
After the tragedy when cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died during the filming of Rust at the hands of actor Alec Baldwin, “The Rock” pledged to stop using real weapons in all films produced by his company Seven Buck Productions.
“I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you that in any film that Seven Buck Productions is working on, as well as on a TV show or anything else we create, we will not use real weapons at all,” Johnson told the magazine. Variety.
“We will switch to rubber weapons and do it in post-production. We will not worry about dollars, we will not worry about how much it will cost,” he added, adding that he will enforce this rule in all studies with which he collaborates.
He announced his decision at Wednesday’s premiere of the action film Red Notice, which includes the use of weapons. Although safety protocols were followed during filming, Johnson insists he wants to back down from filming with real weapons.
“It broke my heart. We lost one life. I sympathize with my family and everyone on the field. I’ve known Aleca for a very long time,” Johnson said of the tragic accident. “There are safety protocols, but accidents do happen. And when something like this happens, I think the most sensible thing we can do is stop for a moment and consider how we will proceed,” he said.
Halyna Hutchins died two weeks ago after actor Alec Baldwin fired from a weapon that was only a prop. The bullet also hit director Joel Souza.
